For these and other events we have added prompts for additional item information to be entered through the ALTER routine. These may be changed if desired by the user. Included are: FRESH: prompt for change of pen number, DNB: prompt for REM (reason), DIED: prompt for REM, and DRY: prompt for change of pen number. As described earlier, if you always dry cows to the same pen or brings fresh cows to the same pen, it would be easiest to put that specific pen number into the event command itself. For example, DRY is EC=11 PEN. It would then become EC=11 PEN=(pen number). Details of all events, the major item changes they produce, and additional inputs needed are outlined under the individual event topic. Whether a remark is entered with an event also depends on how the command is setup. The command "ENTER EC=1 REM" will cause prompting in the FRESH event, "ENTER EC=1" will not. This again is an option left to the user. The major events in Dairy Comp, such as FRESH, DRY, BRED, etc., are specifically designed to take certain actions on the records. For example, when a cow is bred, the times bred must be incremented and last sire defined. Since it would be impractical for one to have to remember to do all of these things, the first 18 events defined in Dairy Comp are set up to handle these tasks. See the section under the desired event name.
